Decisive Issues Facing Christians Today by John Stott.
Fleming H. Revell c. 1984.
In the chapter entitled “Women, Men and God,” John identifies the
issues within the feminist movement and it’s impact upon the church.
He also gives an excellent exegesis of the biblical texts that are troublesome
to both sides in the gender wars. It is a good place to start.
Good News for Women: A Biblical Picture of Gender Equality by
Rebecca Merrill Groothuis. Baker Books c. 1997.
While not an easy reading book, it is rewarding. The author tackles
the “hard
issues” of submission, women in leadership and more. She makes a strong
biblical case for the equality of women in every kind of ministry. She also
leaves the reader with a tremendous resource in the list of books for further
reading.

Dr. Adams investigates scripture and the original Hebrew and Greek
in this comprehensive study of a woman’s place in ministry.
This is an excellent study of the scriptures.
Who Said Women Can’t Teach? by Charles Trombley.
Bridge Publishing. Inc., South Plainfield, NJ
This book addresses the following questions and many more from
a scriptural foundation: Can women teach publicly? What does scripture
mean by “headship” and “submission?” What
was the attitude of the Church Fathers towards women in ministry? Was Paul’s
writing on the roles of women only for the people of his own time and culture?
Should women be silent in the church?
Women As Risk-Takers For God: Finding Your Role in the Neighborhood,
Church, and World by Lorry Lutz. Baker Books c. 1997.
This book provides biographical sketches of women God is using
to build His Kingdom. Lorry tells each of their stories and draws
attention to the variety
of differing challenges and giftings unique to each woman. Very well written.

Women of Destiny by Cindy Jacobs. Regal Books, c. 1998.
Written with Cindy’s characteristic passion for serving Christ, this
book has an excellent apologetic for allowing women into every kind of ministry.
Also excellent is the handling of the “hard passages” of scripture
concerning women being silent and exercising authority in ministry.
